Photo's in the park at night

DSC_0017I took these photo's last saturday night over at Victoria Park in Glebe, just before heading over to Bar Broadway. I tried to go for something a bit more interesting this time. I made it so that the shutter would stay open for longer than necessary. i wanted to have the blur of the traffic in the background of the shot.

DSC_0016These kind of shots are only useful at night, as there is too much light in the day. Oh yeah, i should also mention that keeping your camera steady in a shot like this can be extremely difficult when you don't yet have a tripod. But hey they don't look too badly blurred. What do you think?

Strange Karma @ Bar Broadway

Strange Karma

Another great night from Strange Karma. We all went to Bar Broadway for the gig on Saturday night. The guy's didn't actually go on till midnight, but cause we were in the city that was good. I was pretty tired from the previous night but still had a great night. I managed to take some pretty good photo's too. Check out the photo's i took here on zooomr. Upcoming gig's for August are Friday 4th @ Bridge Hotel in Rozelle, Thursday August 10th @ marquee in Camperdown, and Sunday 13th @ Spectrum in Darlinghurst.

CURVE - Friday nights at Mandalay Room

Last night Mandalay Room was alive with music, lights and most importantly people. The music was pumping courtesy of.. Rich Nicol, Dirty D, Brynstar, JBY, J SMALLS, along with rotating live musicians. It is a fun and friendly atmosphere, always filled with great music and people. It will be on every friday night @ Mandalay Room, 54 Darlinghurst Rd, Kings Cross (Above Vegas Hotel). The dj's usually kick off around 10:30 so come along, you'll most likely see me there.

Oriental Art

A friend of mine has this amazing artwork he picked up overseas... I can't remember exactly where (i'll have to check with him). If you look carefully you can see that the gold coloured parts are in fact gold. Apparently it was painted with gold. It looks beautiful when you can actually see it. The little details are incredible.

Camera bag from Crumpler

I desperately needed something to protect my SLR camera, so I hiked over to Newtown today to purchase a camera bag. I had checked out Crumpler's website earlier and noticed they had a couple of bags in my price range. I ended up getting this one, it perfectly fitted my Nikon D50 (though no space for flash or extra lenses). The best thing was it was only $30 which was affordable. Oh it also has a small pocket on the front for memory cards and cables, plus a loop on the back (for mini-tripods, I think). Hey It does what I needed and it looks good.

Waiting for trains

Don't you just love catching trains in Sydney. They either run late or, like this one, don't stop.

Strings - Tied by hate - Bound by love

This film was made in Denmark, but instead of actors they used puppets. Sounds like a kids movie right... Wrong. This movie was incredible. I sat down expecting a lighthearted movie, but by the end of it I was in tears. It is an amazing story of another world, where lives depend on the strings that hold them up. The puppet masters who controlled the characters where amazingly skilled, just as brilliant as the designers of the puppets and their surroundings. So much thought and emotion went into this film that makes it into the masterpiece it is. I highly recommend Strings, it is suitable for children as the use of puppets makes it interesting for them, but it is more recommended for those a bit older who can more understand and appreciate the feelings and emotions of the movie. It was a new release at Blockbuster video just last week so it should be available at most stores. You can read more about this movie on imdb. I hope you all go and hire it out, I'm going to buy a copy.

Lansdowne last night.

Ended up heading out to the Lansdowne with Max and Kate last night. We were going to see a band called Shotgun Wedding (i think), but when we got there i ran into some friends who were also on the line-up, Hawk Hogan & Funobashi from Unemployed Super Villians. I managed to lose Max, Kate and their friends before midnight (when i called them later, they were sitting up in Hyde Park with a bunch of underage drinkers). While at lansdowne i also ran into two girls that i knew because they had gone to school with my sister. I met a few other people and ended up offering my spare bed to Rachael, from Penrith, who was going to have to wait until trains started up again Sunday Morning. So we hung out here, watching some American Dad episodes at like 4am (just after the early morning Macca's pick-up). But christ am i tired now.

Yorkie - It's Not For Girls!

F**k I love those brit's. Check this out, yes it's a chocolate bar... But apparently 'It's not for girls!'. Seriously, I'm amazed this was allowed in shops. I had to buy one of course, I couldn't walk past it. I mean how cool is this (In a sexually discriminating way).

Weekend long party

After SK on friday night, i headed into the city to go clubbing with some friends. We met up at Kings Cross about 12:30 then went to several places around the city before heading out to his friends place at Warawee (don't ask) at about 6 in the morning then catching a train back to my place at Summer Hill around 8. I got home and had to prepare a bit for my party. Wasn't huge but i got trashed and had a good time. Of course we went into the city again afterwards, i left after midnight when i realized i was so tired i could hardly see anymore. Of course when i got back it took me at least 3 hours to get to sleep, and i only managed about 4 hours of sleep. So yeah i had a good weekend and left myself pretty retarded by sunday. Though, for some reason my foot hurts now and i have to limp everywhere.

Strange Karma @ the Cat & Fiddle

Once again Strange Karma rocked the house. This time we were over at the Cat & Fiddle in Balmain. I had a few extra friends come along (even my parents showed up). Because it was my birthday the day before i managed to score 2 song dedications from the guys. This show was definately worth the wait, i cannot wait till the next one. I managed to get a few photo's but haven't had any time yet to sit down and sort them all, hopefully won't take me too long. (Update: photo's uploaded here on zooomr)

Vivian came out friday night.

Vivian came out with us on friday night for my party. I introduced her to my parents and some of my friends. I may have grossed her out a little when i had Okonomiyaki for dinner (god that stuff tastes good), but that grossed almost everyone out. Viv even came in to see Strange Karma playing, and she said she liked them. Unfortunately she couldn't come out with us afterwards cause of work the next day, but we had a great night anyway.

Friday, July 14

I want to go out... but im stuck at work.

God dammit. I'm stuck at my desk with a pile of papers in front of me, and a phone that won't stop ringing. I'm about ready to set fire to the papers and take a hammer to the phone. It's only 2.00, i now have to wait until about 4 or 5 till i can bolt out of here... Run home have a shower, and get ready to head out for the night. So far there are about 5 or 6 people meeting me at my place before hand, then there should be a fair few more meeting us at Balmain. I expect that i will be unable to walk tomorrow morning... So i'll prob need some berocca in the morning to get myself back in gear, it'll be necessary as i'll have to get up tomorrow morning and finish cleaning the whole house for the party tomorrow night. I'm not looking forward to scrubbing down my bathroom, but it has to be done or i just look like the filthy bastard with the rotten toilet.

Happy Birthday To Me

It was my birthday today, well technically yesterday now seeing as it's past midnight. I worked all day then Sexy Bec came over and had dinner with me. Tomorrow night and saturday night are the party nights, i cannot wait. Friday night @ The Cat and Fiddle in Balmain from about 8:00 onwards, followed by CURVE @ the mandalay room in Kings Cross. Then saturday night @ my place. Should be a great weekend.

Bring back quality Australian television

I think alot of people like me are sick of reality television. Big brother, Australian idol and dancing with the stars... just to name a few. I mean seriously, they know they aren't real... how do they get off calling them reality shows. I think we need to take a stand against this once and for all. Please sign this petition to bring back quality australian television. I actually got rid of my tv because of this problem, maybe if it can be rectified i will one day consider becoming a viewer again.

Pixel Groovy & Zooomr

A couple of new sites that I discovered today.
Pixel Groovy
, which is like Digg for design. You just groove any interesting design tutorial you come across. They cover photoshop, gimp, flash, 3D studio max, as well as AJAX and CSS. If it has to do with design it'll most likely be here.
The other site i started using was;
Zooomr, is a great photosharing site and possible serious competitor to flickr. Hell Zooomr let's you do all the standard tagging and sharing that flickr does, it also track's if anyone else is using your pic's on their site with trackbacks. Yes flickr still currently has more features, but Zooomr makes geotagging your images easy (w/ Google maps integration). Also if you happen to be a blogger they are currently offering a free upgrade to pro (meaning unlimited storage space @ 2Gb p/month upload limit) So get over there and sign up now.

Missy & Me

DSC_0029Poor Missy girl, the abscess is finally healing. So hopefully she'll be free to go outside again soon.

Man turns paper clip into house

A canadian man (Kyle Macdonald) who had apparently intended to use the internet to trade a paperclip... up to a house. He started with one red paperclip, which was traded for a pen in the shape of a fish, which in turn was traded for a novelty doorknob, then a camping stove, then a generator. Next was a keg of beer with a neon sign dubbed an "instant party kit", that was traded for a snowmobile, which was traded for a holiday in British Columbia. The holiday went for a van, which scored him a recording contract, which was traded for a year of rent-free living in a house in Phoenix, Arizona. Of course he wasn't happy with just that so he traded in the rent-free deal for an afternoon with rock legend Alice Cooper, and for some reason traded that in for a snowglobe. It must have been a rare globe as it was exchanged for a paid role in a new movie by TV actor Corbin Bernson. Then the town of Kipling, Saskatchewan gave him a house in their town so that one of them could be in a movie. Now the man is planning his move to kipling, where he has never even been before. You can check out Kyle's blog One Red Paper Clip blog for more info.

3Kg Wrist weight's

weight trainingOk, so i finally found some wrist weight's, i got these while shopping sunday and have worn them constantly around the house (Never thought hanging out the washing could be such a task. Well what would you expect really with 3kg on each wrist. Hopefully this will help me bulk up some of that muscle i used to have.

Finally got a new Digital Camera

It took a while but i finally got a brand new Digital SLR, I managed to get the guy @ the camera shop to knock $50 of the price (I wasn't paying for it but i wanted to get a good price). This was a 22nd birthday present from my parents. I can't wait to test it @ the next Strange Karma gig which will be this friday coming. 14th July @ Cat & Fiddle in Balmain it will be a great night everyone should be there.

60's Night @ Bar Broadway

Friday night i was sitting around bored so i called Sexy Bec to see what she was up to... She was heading out to 60's night... "Pick me up?"... So i ended up @ Bar Broaday, when i got there the dance floor was bare. Ppl were just sitting around drinking. After a couple of drinks i noticed 1 girl had taken on tyhe dance floor by herself... So a matter of seconds later i was up there dancing with her, soon enough we had another 6 or 7 girls up (but still no more guys). After about 5 songs the floor dispersed for more dance fuel, i downed another tequila then sat around chatting with Bec and all her girlfriends. We got in a little more dancing before it was time to leave. Walking out of the pub i ran into a girl i used to work with @ Bakers Delight, Jess and my god she and her room mate both looked incredible, so i stopped and chatted with them for a good 10min's before having to go catch up with Bec & Jeren. Afterwards the three of us headed back to my place to finish drinking and have a smoke. The picture is of the badge they gave me @ the 60's club.

Hell City Glamours @ Ruby Rabbit

Last thursday Max had asked me to come along and check out this band call Hell City Glamours. I had thought he'd said marquee but i was wrong they were @ Ruby Rabbit on Oxford st in Darlinghurst. I went because i was interested in hearing them and because Shea was up from Melbourne for the weekend... I had to go see Shea. Even Vivian ended up coming, now that was awesome. I didn't think she would be up for that kind of thing but she came and had a good time. Afterwards while waiting for a train Viv's parents called so she had to run off home :( Oh well, she's coming out next friday night with us. Anyway Hell City were a pretty f**king good band (I can see why maxie loves them), Will probably go again next time.

Quote's to live by

Just a couple of quote's that mean alot to me. More than likely they won't mean anything to anyone else... But here they are anyway;
-What isn't remembered, never happened. Memory is just a record.
-Distract yourself while you wait for the flowers.
And to close, one of the greatest quote's of all time;
-In this world gone mad we won't spank the monkey... The monkey will spank us!!

Live - Sofia

Diamonds and pearls don't move this girl
She can be icy cold to the crawl
One of her lungs breathes in another world
While the other sticks around to blow you off
Even when the four winds blow
She kinda passes by like she don't feel it
No, momma, she don't feel it
One of these days I'm gonna dive into her waves
And bring back the meaning of it all

Sofia, I need ya
Like a junkie needs a vein
And I wanna feel ya, Sofia
Fallin' down on me like rain

They say in ancient times, man, that women ruled the world
But the goddess was the one who laid it down
Well, I gots a woman as alive as the day
Gonna breathe a whisper, knock you right down to the ground
So go ahead man and say what you came to say
The black widow's a spider
The black widow's a spider
Then go and prepare for your dyin' day
Won't take one minute till you're curled up dead beside her

Sofia, I need ya
Like a junkie needs a vein
And I wanna feel ya, Sofia
Fallin' down on me like rain

On me like rain
Fall down
Fall down
Fall down

Sofia, I need ya
Like a junkie needs a vein
And I wanna feel ya, Sofia
Fallin' down on me like rain

Sofia, I need ya
Like a freeloader needs his train
And I wanna feel ya, Sofia
Fallin' down on me like rain

Sofia, rain down on me
And I ain't ever
I'll never be the same, baby
I wanna feel ya, Sofia
Fallin' down on me like rain

Design problems.

Any regulars may have noticed that my categories have not been working since i changed the design of this site. I'm hard at work trying to fix it. As i use labelr.com (which calls on an external .js file) so i can't exactly see what i've done wrong. I have contacted the guy who runs labelr to see if he could check my code, i'm hoping he get's back to me soon. Oh well i'll let you know how it goes. But for now don't bother with the categories links in the sidebar.

Poor Missy Cat, Has an Abscess

My poor kitty, after getting back from newcastle yesterday we discovered a gross Pussyu lump on the side of my cat's head... From the look (and the smell) we thought she had rolled in some shit. But when we tried to clean it we discovered it was more. Luckily Bec was over and was able to run me to a vet nearby. We discovered missy had what was called an abscess. Apparently, When cat's are fighting some filth can get caught under the skin from a claw wound... That filth then grows and festers (lovely image) until it bursts smelling and looking disgusting. Missy didn't even seem to notice it but we sure did. The vet gave me some antibiotics to give her, and told me to keep her inside for a few weeks (she's going to hate me). Also after the bit of dead flesh falls away she may be left with a small hole in the side of her face. Of course she will be well looked after so that she gets better quickly. I hate seeing my girls like that.

MC Hammer - LOOK

He's not dead yet. That king of superstardom is back with some new shit from the album Look, Look, Look. It's Hammertime!

Saturday night @ Newcastle

Went up to newcastle on saturday night for my cousin Elouise's 18th Birthday. There were free drinks at the bar... beer, wine and softdrink only... so i went with Tequila, a nice way to top off the vodka i had before leaving home. I kept wandering in and out of the party cause i was chatting with some people in the pub. After the party had died down a bit (about 12pm), i ended up taking off to a club with two girls i had met, Rosa and Joss(i think that's right). They took me to The Gateway Hotel (don't ask my why i keep ending up at gay bars) where we ended up dancing at their night club venue the G spot. We were there until about 4-5 when we decided to head off cause one of the girls had gone missing. So yeah i ended up having to be picked up, by my mum, early in the morning, from rosa's house somewhere in Newcastle. So yeah that was a good night.
